Everton football Star Andre Gomes thanks fans et teammates for outpouring of support after successful ankle surgery
Everton midfielder Andre Gomes has spoken for the first time since suffering a fracture injury of his right ankle.
Gomes has undergone surgery since sustaining the injury against Tottenham after he was brought down by Son Heung-min at Goodison Park on Sunday.
In a video which he posted on his Twitter, Gomes thanked those who have offered words of comfort.
He said: ‘Hi everyone. As you already know everything went well. I’m already at home with my family and I’d like to thank you all for the support, the messages and the positive energy. Thank you.’
It is unlikely that the 26-year-old will play again this season although Everton are yet to set a date for his return.
In a statement recently released, Everton said: ‘Following a successful operation yesterday, Andre Gomes has now been discharged from hospital and will continue his rehabilitation under the care of our medical team.’
